“Toby & Nina were simply fantastic. Great accommodation, at a fantastic place. It is one of the best guesthouses I’ve been so far. For one that loves the nature & wants to be disconnected from the daily routine for a while, this is definitely the place to be. Absolutely incredible.”

Pedro, Portugal.

“We would love to keep this house our little secret but that would be a shame at the same time, because it’s such a nice place to be. It made me feel like a child again, free to do what it wants to do: swim in the river, climb in the tree hut, catch a crayfish, run, skip and end in the hammock.”

Miriam, Holland.

Quinta da Lontra (Farm of the Otter) is situated in a valley on 3 hectares (7.5 acres) of land bordering the Mondego River.

The land is a combination of sandy river beaches, meadowland & terraces containing vines, fruit & olive trees. European & cork oak woodland borders the property. The farm sits in a river valley, in beautiful unspoilt countryside & is accessible only by dirt track from the main road. With no immediate neighbours you´re guaranteed peace & quiet during your stay.

Quinta da Lontra is totally off-grid. Solar panels provide all lighting & electrical needs, with drinking water filtered from the stream that runs through the land, so if a low impact self-catering holiday is what you’re looking for then this is the place to come!

The local village of Póvoa de Midões is only 1.5 km from us, where you´ll find  3 bars/cafes & a small convenience store where basic food & wine can be bought.

There are also a number of good restaurants serving typical Portuguese cuisine in the neighbouring villages.
